One of my favorite wedding venues to photograph is the Moose Meadow Lodge in Duxbury, Vermont, which is where Christine & Matt found themselves for their elopement this past summer. This lodge is located just south of Waterbury, VT and a short drive north from Warren. Up a mile on a dirt road, the lodge has beautiful views of the Worcester Range, a TREE HOUSE you can stay in complete with outdoor shower, a pond, and many trails to explore. It’s the perfect place for a small wedding or elopement, and that’s exactly what Christine & Matt chose to do.
The couple flew out from California (a pandemic move) with their closest family and celebrated on the gorgeous wooden porch of the lodge with a lovely ceremony by Greg, one of the lodge’s owners. Although there are so many beautiful spots for the ceremony, the threat of rain (it’s Vermont after all) led the ceremony to take place on the porch. Lined with perennial gardens and views of the mountains, it’s not a bad place to get married. Not a bad place at all.
Greg delivered a beautiful ceremony, full of laughs and wisdom. I’ve worked with Greg a number of times now, and his way of officiating is kind, delightful, and effortless. One of the perks of getting married and staying at the lodge is the option for your very own on-site officiant. And he’s good at what he does.
After the ceremony, which was beautiful and swift and sprinkled with beautiful readings by family members, we all headed down to the pond for some family portraits. It’s located at the base of the tree house and is the perfect place to take a stroll, a hot-day dip, or for getting your wedding portraits taken. I’m telling you, this venue is not short on images for photographs or beautiful views. It’s a win win any way you look at it!
It was beautiful to watch the couple interact with their families, who seem to have already blended together over the years; they were already one big happy family! We took some more formal photos before they started to get a little silly (and maybe those Vermont beers also started to kick in!). It’s so much fun to watch the interactions of families on weddings days; joyful, solid, and sincere. To be a part of such a small and intimate affair is so special, and I’m so grateful for each and every one. This is such a fun job, but I also don’t take it lightly. Fun AND professional! That’s what you get with this lady!
And finally, I want to give a shout out to the florist, Jasmine of A Clover and One Bee out of Richmond, Vermont. Christine’s bouquet was simply stunning (you’ll see in the photos below). And not only were the flowers gorgeous, but Jasmine is one of the most beautiful spirits I have ever met. Her who way of being is affirming and will immediately set you at ease. If you’re in need of a florist for any occasion, I cannot recommend Jasmine enough! She has a storefront right on downtown Main street in Richmond. You can’t miss it!
So, without further ado, here are some photographs from Christine & Matt's Moose Meadow Lodge Microwedding.
